An intergenerational legacy for Africa’s future: The Dr. Hage G. Geingob Fellows

At Leadership Lab Yetu, we believe lasting change happens when leaders across generations listen to one another, build trust, and lead side by side. The Intergenerational Leadership Accelerator (ILA) is our flagship, 12-month program that brings emerging and experienced African leaders together to exchange knowledge, grow their leadership practice, and take collective action on solutions grounded in African realities.

The leaders joining this program are named the Dr. Hage G. Geingob Fellows, in honor of the 3rd President of Namibia.

Dr. Hage G. Geingob was a true intergenerational leader. As Namibia’s founding Prime Minister, he created the nation’s first institutions, recognizing the value of drawing on talent from across the public and private sectors to form good governance and state capacity. He was also a pan-Africanist, believing that our continent’s talent is world-class—and that our stories of success must be shared beyond national borders.

After leaving the prime minister’s office, Dr. Hage G. Geingob led the World Bank’s Global Coalition for Africa. He later returned to government, rising from the backbenches of parliament to Chief Whip, then again to Prime Minister, and ultimately to the Presidency—serving as the nation’s 3rd president. His own political journey showed that leadership trajectories are rarely linear and that leaders bridge differences; they build trust over time, and they carry the responsibility to serve beyond a single moment or title.

Selected from across the continent for their unique leadership journeys, like Dr. Hage G. Geingob,  they too have encountered challenges and turning points on their pathway toward positions of greater responsibility, and they are committed to service.

Now, through the Intergenerational Leadership Accelerator, we are partnering with them to build the pipeline of leadership excellence that this decisive decade demands—leadership that is rooted in pan-African, intergenerational collaboration.
