Rumbidzai Chisenga’s perspectives on Africa’s long-term potential published by The Standard

Leadership Lab Yetu’s CEO, Rumbidzai Chisenga, has published her assessment of the challenges and opportunities that African governments need to respond to if the continent is to capitalize on its demographic edge on the world stage.

Writing for The Standard, Chisenga anchored her opinion piece in the realities facing the continent: lagging employment prospects, faltering urban infrastructure that no longer meets everyday needs, and disillusionment with governance and public leadership structures. Her call for strategic leadership renewal to not only revive Africa’s institutions but also bolster the continent’s youthful energy for future growth is one we share here at Leadership Lab Yetu.

When the G20 Leaders’ Summit was held on African soil for the first time last November, it offered the international community the chance to witness the organic solutions being developed by Africa. As the world’s youngest continent, this was a seismic moment for showcasing what today’s youth can offer the future of leadership.

At Leadership Lab Yetu, we are committed to making the case for a more inclusive and representative leadership practice: where emerging and established leaders come together as an intergenerational community of practice to share and exchange ideas shoulder-to-shoulder.

We will continue to champion at the highest levels for true intergenerational leadership both here on the African continent and further afield. It is only by learning together and offering a platform to today’s youth that we can address tomorrow’s shared challenges.
